General Notes: Husband - Marion M. Byers

He was reared on the home farm and acquired his literary education in the public schools. After attaining his majority he assumed charge of the old family homestead. He was a general farmer and stock raiser, and produced the very best quality of horses for all purposes. He said, "I allow no man to drive a better team than I." He also burned and made considerable lime, having a fine quality of lime stone on his farm, which he purchased from D. D. Miller, comprising one hundred and fifteen acres; this farm was known as the Andrews homestead. Mr. Byers was a director in the Farmers' and Merchants' National Bank of Mount Pleasant, and a stockholder in the First National Bank of Mount Pleasant. Politically he affiliated with the Democratic party, and served several terms as a member of the school board, and was a member of the Democratic county committee.
His wife was a member of the United Presbyterian church, while he and their children were members of the German Reformed church, of which Mr. Byers was a deacon for more than twelve years.
