General Notes: Husband - John Dickey Guffey

He was educated in the public schools of the district, and from youth was his father's assistant. Later he managed the farm alone, and after his father's death bought out the other heirs and became sole owner. For many years he devoted the farm to dairy purposes, maintaining a herd of forty cows and marketing a large amount of dairy products. Later he sold his stock, retired from dairying and ran the place as a stock farm, breeding for market pure-bred Holstein cattle, of which he was an expert judge. He was a Democrat in politics, and a member of Round Hill Presbyterian Church.
