General Notes: Husband - Samuel G. Greenawalt
He was educated in the public schools of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and engaged in the drug business in partnership with his brother, William G. Greenawalt, purchasing the old Nixon drug store, originally founded by Jacob S. Nixon. He was an active and leading Republican and was sheriff of Franklin County, 1896-99. After his retirement from the Sheriff's office he was in business as a stock dealer, as a member of the firm of Greenawalt & Zullinger. They were extensive buyers of horses in the west for the eastern market. For thirteen years, 1880-93, he was in the livery business in Chambersburg, as a member of the firm of Greenawalt & Lehman. He was a stock holder and director of the Chambersburg Trust Company. He was a member of George Washington Lodge, No. 143, F. & A. M., of Chambersburg; of George Washington Chapter, R. A. M., and of Continental Commandery, K. T. He was also a member of the B. P. O. E., of Chambersburg.
