General Notes: Husband - Charles Carter

There is some confustion in the sources as to the ancestry of this person.

He was an iron master. He was an officer in the Revolutionary War, and was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. He made a settlement at what is now Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, in 1797, remaining but a short time. In 1802 he returned and built a furnace at old Brighton (later Beaver Falls), in which he forged the first piece of iron made in the county. He died near Mount Etna Furnace, Butler County.

He was born in the eastern part of Virginia, and was engaged in the manufacture of iron, locating in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he conducted a furnace. Later, he removed to Butler County, and later still, to Old Brighton, (later known as Beaver Falls), Beaver County, where he also owned a furnace.

General Notes: Wife - Jane Anderson

She was a niece of Gen. Carlisle, of Revolutionary War fame.
