He was an Irishman who came to Washington County, Pennsylvania, before 1800, and on the 15th of November, 1799, purchased a small tract of land of William Mitchell, and Nov. 1, 1803, bought 225 acres of Henry Dickerson, a part of "Potatoe Hollow."
