General Notes: Husband - Jacob Hassler
He was reared near St. Thomas, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed in connection with cabinet-making during life.
He was an energetic man, a good mechanic, and built many of the largest houses in Mercersburg. He and his wife were members of the Reformed Church, in which he was an active elder. To his church he was liberal, and was one of the four men who gave $500 each in raising the $10,000 pledged by the town toward the erection of the Theological Seminary of the Reformed Church, at Mercersburg, in 1835.
He and his wife were the parents of ten children; seven were still living in 1887.
