General Notes: Husband - Samuel E. Van Eman
He was reared in his native city and given a good public school education. When eighteen years of age he commenced to fend for himself, working at various things up to the time he was twenty-four years of age. In the month of September, 1895, he purchased an interest in the Van Eman livery stable, which at that time was in the rear of the Grove City Hotel, his brother, W. W., being one of the chief owners. In 1902, Samuel E. became the sole proprietor of the business. On account of increasing business, in 1907, he built on a brick extension to his barns, extending to Broad street, costing him six thousand dollars.
Politically, he was a supporter of the Democratic party, and in church affiliations was connected with the Presbyterian church. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
