General Notes: Husband - Thomas R. Strain


He first attended the old-time subscription schools and later the public schools and then assisted his father on the farm. He came to Pennsylvania as a workman in the oil fields and spent three years in oil refining in Allegheny County.
He bought the Amspoker farm on Harmon's Creek, Washington County, Pennsylvania, in 1883.
