General Notes: Husband - Samuel W. Greer

He learned the carpenter's trade with his father and for some years engaged in carpenter work and then entered into a general contracting busi­ness. In 1888 he came to Butler, Pennsylvania, and for three years was engaged in a dairy busi­ness and then embarked in a manufactur­ing line, making handles for about a year. From that he started into the manufacture of packing-boxes and conducted a profit­able business for some years and later en­tered into partnership with Mr. Garroway, after which time the business ex­panded, trade relations extended and larger quarters secured. Mr. Greer was also interested in the East Oakland Land Com­pany, being a large stockholder.
Mr. Greer and his family were mem­bers of the English Lutheran Church. In his political views he was a Republican.
