General Notes: Husband - Jacob Harter

---

He and his wife were both natives of Haines township, Centre County, Pennsylvania, whence they removed to Marion township. He became one of the leading farmers of that community, and took a prominent part in public affairs, serving in several local offices, including those of supervisor and tax collector. He and his wife were members of the Lutheran Church in early life, afterward uniting with the Evangelical Church.

From Penn's Valley, he removed to Nittany Valley in 1835, locating on the old Harter homestead, where he followed farming for the rest of his life. He was of German descent.
