General Notes: Husband - James Walker
He obtained some book knowledge in the district schools, but his academic advantages were not very great. He helped his father clear the 225-acre farm and engaged extensively in raising cattle and sheep. After his marriage, he lived on the farm which his son, J. C. Walker, later owned. He was a man of ample fortune and lived retired at Cross Creek village for fifteen years before his death. He was a man of influence in his community, was a Republican in politics, and served usefully as one of the county commis-sioners when elected to that office. For many years he was a member and also an elder in the Cross Creek Pres-byterian Church.
