General Notes: Husband - Samuel E. Harris
He obtained a common school education and was a tiller of the soil, at one time being proprietor of a hotel in Butler County, which he sold when he went to New Brighton, Beaver County. In his active life he was industrious, thrifty, and energetic, never devoting much time to public affairs, but holding firm and decided views upon all of the momentous questions of the day, his feeling rising strongly against the system of human servitude as then practiced.
