General Notes: Husband - John Marten Yockey

He was born on the home farm near Salina, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and there remained his father's assistant until 1890. He attended the Clawson public school near the farm, that being the only break in the routine of his farm life. From the farm he went to the coal mines of Salina, spending twelve years as a bituminous coal miner. For a time he was employed in a foundry at Avonmore, Pennsylvania, continuing until January, 1918, when he was appointed agent at Avonmore for the Adams Express Company. In political faith he was a Democrat and a strong prohibitionist; he served as councilman, elected January 1, 1918. He was a Presbyterian in religious belief, served as elder for thirty-five years or more, a teacher of a men's Bible class, and formerly a leader of the choir.
