General Notes: Husband - John J. Grace

Another source states that he was born in 1836 in Millbrook, Mercer Co, Pennsylvania.
In his early youth and manhood was employed both as a farmer and painter. In 1861 he enlisted in Company G, 100th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He had his left arm and leg shattered by a shell at the second battle of Bull Run, lay on the battlefield for four days before assistance arrived, and was totally disabled for further service. In 1862, after recuperating in the hospital, he returned to Millbrook and was elected treasurer of Mercer County at a later date-being at all times an earnest and active Republican. For some years he was a resident of Sandy Lake, while there serving as burgess, and later, upon his removal to Grove City, became a member of the City Council. He was a member of the Knights of Honor of Sandy Lake and of the G. A. R. post at Grove City. [HMC 1909, 965]
