He was born on the old family homestead and was reared on the farm, attended the common schools, the institute in Waynesboro, and the State normal school at Millersville, Pennsylvania. He farmed until 1880 when he embarked in and created his own business and place of business, known as "Midvale", where he was merchant, railroad and express agent. Politically Mr. Good was a Republican.
