General Notes: Husband - John B. Johnston

He was born at Pleasant Unity, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, near Youngstown. He received his education in the common schools of the township, and all his life was engaged in farming. His property was located between Unity and Youngstown, and he was well known throughout that region. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served as lieutenant in one of the companies of the regiment commanded by Colonel Joseph Jack, of Westmoreland County.

He and his wife were the parents of seven children.
