General Notes: Husband - George Harbaugh
He settled at the foot of South Mountain, in Washington township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, about 1800. In 1805 he built the stone house so frequently mentioned in the Pennsylvania German poems of his son, the Rev. Dr. Henry Harbaugh. He was one of the founders of the German Reformed Church at Waynesboro.
The tenth child of his parents, on his marriage, he settled in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, on what became known now as the "Harbaugh Home" at the foot of South Mountain, in the northeastern part of Franklin County, near the boundary of Maryland. The home was a substantial two-story, double-front stone house, at the old Hagerstown and Gettysburg road.
Soon after marriage he and his wife removed to Washington township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, settling near the Maryland line, at the foot of South mountain, on a tract containing 200 acres of new and unimproved land, a part of a tract called "The third re-survey of Sarah's Delight, granted by patent to Christopher Shockey in 1768." Shockey sold it to Jacob Harbaugh, Sr., in 1787, for one thousand pounds; on Sept. 1, 1804, Jacob Harbaugh Sr., sold it to George Harbaugh for twelve hundred pounds.
