General Notes: Husband - William R. Daugherty
He received an excellent education in the public schools, attending high school. His first position was in the superintendent’s office of the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad Company at Oil City, PA, where he remained three or four years, changing then to the engineering department and serving four or five years in the office of the division engineer. For three or four months he was with the city engineer, in 1909 taking a position in the drafting office of the land department, Standard Oil Company, where he worked for L. L. Graham. In 1900 he had taken service under Robert S. Hampton, general auditor for the Standard Oil organization, with whom he was associated until the dissolution of the Standard Oil Company in December, 1911, after which he became general auditor of the Southern pipe lines. This group included the Cumberland Pipe Line Company, Inc., operating in Kentucky; the Eureka Pipe Line Company of West Virginia; the Southwestern Pennsylvania pipe lines; and the Southern Pipe Line Company. He followed in his father’s footsteps in the public service which he rendered to his fellow citizens. He was a member of the Rouseville council for three years, and served a couple of terms as clerk in councils. Politically he was a Republican in principle. He was a prominent Mason, a past master of Fraternal Lodge, F. & A. M., of Rouseville, and member of Oil City Chapter, R. A. M.; was a past exalted ruler of Oil City Lodge, No. 344, B. P. O. Elks; and a past regent of Contest Council, No. 124, Royal Arcanum, of Oil City. Socially he held membership in the Venango and Wanango Clubs, also in the National Security League, and was a member of the Pennsylvania Reserve Militia. His religious association was with the First Baptist Church, of which he was a trustee for three years. [CAB, 663]
