General Notes: Husband - William Shafer Glenn, M.D.

His youth was passed with his father on the farm. His father, desiring better educational facilities for him than the schools of the neighborhood could supply, had him pursue studies at Bellefonte Academy and at the different normal schools in the county. After this the son, for some time, was successfully engaged in teaching. He began to read medicine under the guidance of Dr. Kirk, of Bellefonte, and then took a full course in the Eclectic Medical Institute at Cincinnati, graduating in 1883. No time was lost in the selection of a suitable place for practice, as he at once located at State College, where he built up an extensive practice. A large share of the practice at the College falls to him, while the people of the village and the surrounding country placed full confidence in his skill. He was an able preceptor, and of five students whom he took in charge, all engaged in successful practice.
In politics the Doctor was a Democrat, and he was actively interested in the various social, religious and philanthropical movements of his locality. He was a member of the M. E. Church, the P. O. S. of A., the I. O. O. F. and was also connected with the National State and Local Medical Societies of the Eclectic School of Medicine. He took a great interest in educational affairs and was a member of the school board for some years.
