General Notes: Husband - Nelson McElvain
He was born and reared in Washington Township, Butler County, PA. He began housekeeping, after marriage, on the old home place, which he fell heir to, but later sold that place and in 1886 purchased another farm from an uncle, Samuel McElvain. He then engaged in general farming and was one of the substantial men of the community.
