General Notes: Husband - Col. Robert W. Miller
He was born in Chartiers township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and received his early education in the district schools of the neighborhood. He afterward entered Washington College, where he was a member of the class of '36, but did not graduate. He taught eleven years in the schools of Washington County, being very successful in that vocation.
He followed teaching for some time after his marriage, then settled on a farm. He learned the trade of a wagon maker, also following carpentry.
He was colonel in the Pennsylvania State militia, and in politics an active member of the Democratic party. He was an ardent member of the Presbyterian Church in Washington. While en route for Niagara Falls, he was suddenly taken ill at the "Hotel Spencer," Niagara, dying there. He was a well-known and universally respected citizen, his demise being mourned by many friends. He was a man of fine personal appearance, six feet in stature, and well proportioned.
