He was born in Coleraine, Ireland. He came to Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and married. His wife died not long after leaving him one son. After this he was married again and they first located near Newville, thence moving to Westmoreland County, and in 1809 made a permanent settlement in Washington County, where his children were reared.
David Glenn, Sr., assisted in the organization of the Chartiers Cross Roads Church.
