He was a tinner by trade.

He was married in Path Valley, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, where he followed his trade and lived until about 1856, when he went west and settled in Galesburg, Illinois. Previously he traveled through different States and Territories. At Galesburg he associated with James Andrews, a former resident of Path Valley, and together they built up a trade in the hardware business. He was a member of the Baptist Church; politically a Republican.

He was born in 1808 and died August 15, 1859. [CBAFC, 234]
