General Notes: Husband - John Hamilton
He was born on a farm in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, within one mile of the corner of Indiana, Armstrong and Jefferson counties, the farm being both in Indiana and Jefferson.
He married and located in East Mahoning township, Indiana County, on a farm given him by his father. There he spent his remaining days.
He located on his own homestead in 1831. The land was originally patented to the Holland Land Company. An Indian trail extended over the tract, from the direction of Cherry Tree toward Kittanning. The pioneers spoke of the Indians passing along this path and exchanging furs and skins for provisions.
