General Notes: Husband - John Gilmour
He came to America from Scotland with his father and some of his siblings.
He and his father wagoned goods between Philadelphia and Baltimore and Indiana County, Pennsylvania, before the pikes were made.
Born in Scotland, he came to the United States in 1804, then a young man of nineteen years of age. He settled in Young township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in that locality known as "Scotland." The Gilmores, one of the war-like clans of Scotland, were Covenanters in religion and in America their descendants joined with the United Presbyterian church.
Besides the children listed, four other children of William Gilmore died in infancy.
