General Notes: Husband - Edwin Hart

He was a man of substance and prominence in his community, Clarke County, Virginia, where he was a large owner of property and slaves. He was a miller, grinding flour for the people of the region about, and carried on a most successful business up to the time of the Civil War. He was a tall man and a conspicuous figure in the neighborhood, and he and his family were staunch members of the Baptist Church. Like so many of his fellows, the devoted citizens of the south, Mr. Hart was a great sufferer in the Civil War and found himself at the end of the conflict a ruined man. He did not long survive his misfortune, dying shortly after in his native place.
