General Notes: Husband - Henry A. Hallstein
After receiving a common school education, he learned the shoe-maker's trade with his father, at which he worked for several years. On September 8, 1882, he was appointed station and freight agent for the Pittsburg and Western Railroad Company, at Harmony, Butler County, Pennsylvania; also agent for the United States Express Company, and manager for the Western Union Telegraph Company at the same point. In connection with these offices, he was agent for the Standard Life and Accident Insurance Company, of Detroit. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Harmony, and was a trustee and recorder of that organization. Politically, he was a Democrat, was auditor of the borough and secretary of the school board, and secretary of the board of health. He was a member of the R. A., K. O. T. M., and Jr. O. U. A. M., also of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Beneficial Association.
