He resided under the parental roof until he was twenty-four years of age, when he was united in marriage. After marriage, he and his wife removed to a farm which consisted of 233 acres of choice land under a high state of cultivation.
He was a prominent member of the United Presbyterian Church, and a stanch Republican in politics.
