General Notes: Husband - Charles Carter


He was an iron master. He was an officer in the Revolutionary War, and was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. He made a settlement at what is now Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, in 1797, remaining but a short time. In 1802 he returned and built a furnace at old Brighton (later Beaver Falls), in which he forged the first piece of iron made in the county. He died near Mount Etna Furnace, Butler County.

She was a niece of Gen. Carlisle, of Revolutionary War fame.
