He was reared upon the family homestead, and lived there until 1834, when he settled upon a farm in Clinton township, Venango County, PA. He was a mem­ber of the Methodist Episcopal church for sixty years. He was a Republican, a member of the K. and L. of H., and with his wife belonged to the Methodist Episcopal church of Clintonville.
