General Notes: Husband - John Calvin Guffey
He grew up at home and acquired his education in the common schools. After his marriage he came to Sewickley township, Westmoreland County. There he rented a farm for three years. His brother, William F. Guffey, then came to Sewickley township and the two brothers purchased a farm of one hundred and forty-three acres, which they farmed in partnership up to the time of William’s death.
He was Democratic in politics and served as supervisor. He served multiple terms as a member of the school board. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and of Grace Lodge, No. 405, Knights of Pythias of Suterville.
