General Notes: Husband - Allen McDowell Ghost
He was educated at Iowa Wesleyan University and was valedictorian. He studied law at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. In 1868 he practiced law in connection with the real estate business at Lincoln, Nebraska. He was one of the earliest citizens of that newly located capital, superintendent of schools, founder of number of now flourishing towns; with another platted and superintended all towns along B & M railroad between Lincoln and Kearney Junction - 18 in all. York, Crete, Harvard, Hastings. There were repeated incursions of locusts in Nebraska so he removed from there. He toured New Mexico, Arizona, California and Colorado and decided in favor of Colorado. He was senior member of the firm of A. M. Ghost & Co., real estate dealers, and also published Colorado Bulletin. Office at 405 Lawrence St.
