William J. Prindle, 89, of 1507 Chelsea Ave., (Erie, Erie Co., Pa.) died at his home Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. He was born July 5, 1908, in Sherman, NY, son of the late Myron and Ida Newhouse Prindle. Mr. Prindle worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a railway postal clerk for 39 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a former member of the Coachman Caravan. Mr. Prindle was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, where he was an usher. He also belonged to the American Association of Retired Persons and NCHA. He enjoyed camping and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Guelcher Prindle; a sister, Ethel Hunink; and a half-brother, Melvin Prindle. Survivors include three daughters, Jean E. Shirley of Erie and her husband, John, Kay Corwin of Tucson, Ariz., and her husband, William, and Joyce Hutchings of Gasport, NY, and her husband, Robert; three sons, William R. Prindle of Florence, KY and his wife, Debbie, Donald R. Prindle of North East, and his wife Patty, and Ronald L. Prindle of Erie and his wife, Cathy; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Burton West Lake Funeral Home, 3816 West Lake Road, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held at Lakewood Methodist Church on Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. James Patterson will officiate. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lakewood United Methodist Church, 3856 W. 10th St., Erie, Pa. 16505.

OBITUARY - KATHRYN M. GUELCHER PRINDLE, 84 Services set for Thursday Kathryn M. Guelcher Prindle, 84, 1507 Chelsea Avenue, died Sunday, May 14, 1995, at Fairview Manor. She was born in Erie Feb. 4, 1911, daughter of the late Amandus J. and Hattie Shade Guelcher. Mrs. Prindle was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, its Lydia-Ruth Circle, Coachman Caravan Chapter 66 and N.C.H.A.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, William J. Prindle; three daughters, Mrs. John (Jean) Shirley of Erie, Mrs. William (Kay) Corwin of Tucson, and Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Hutchings of Gasport, NY; three sons, William R. Prindle of Florence, KY, and Twins, Donald R. Prindle of North East, and Ronald L. Prindle of Erie; twin brothers, Elmer and Arthur Guelcher, both of Erie; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 3816 W Lake Road, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lakewood United Methodist Church.
