He was a student in Washington and Jefferson College for nearly four years; in the fall of 1871 he entered the College of New Jersey at Princeton, from which he graduated in the class of 1873. He studied law with the late Hon. Theodore Cuyler, of Philadelphia; was admitted to the bar in that city in September of 1875, and in October of the same year to the Pittsburgh bar, where he has secured a lucrative practice.
