He always engaged in farming, and excepting four years' residence in Ohio resided on one place beginning in 1851. He was connected with the schools of his township as director. He was a member of the New Bedford Presbyterian Church, which was built in 1801, his grandfather and father having aided largely by their means and influence in its erection.
