General Notes: Husband - Dr. Milton Walter Livingston, M.D.
He received his early education at the local public schools of his native place and of various cities in Pennsylvania and elsewhere. His father's business called him to many parts of the country, his family accompanying him the while, so that the lad went to school in many places. After the preparatory portion of his studies was completed, he attended for a time the Rochester Business Institute at Rochester, New York, where he took a commercial course. In the meantime, however, his attention had been turned to the subject of medicine and he felt that therein should lie his future career. He began the study of this subject with private tutors and continued under their direction for some time, but eventually entered Cleveland Medical College at Cleveland, Ohio, an institution which later became part of the State University of Ohio. Dr. Livingston graduated from the Cleveland Medical College with the class of 1897, taking his degree of Doctor of Medicine. He went, after graduation, to New York City, where he took a number of post-graduate courses at the Post-Graduate Medical College there. Upon completing these, he returned to his native state of Pennsylvania and took up his residence in the town of Brookville, Jefferson County, where he practiced for a period of four years. He then was appointed physician and surgeon to the Clyde Coal Company's collieries at Fredericktown, Pennsylvania, and filled this position for a similar period. In the year 1904, Dr. Livingston came to Latrobe, Westmoreland County, and made that community his home. He at once established himself in practice there and enjoyed a high degree of success. He was a homoeopathist and was regarded as one of the leaders of his profession in the county. He was a member of the Homoeopathic Medical Society of the State of Pennsylvania. He was an independent in politics and allied himself with no political party, reserving the right to vote for the cause or candidate of which his judgment approved. He was a member of the International Bible Students' Association, and was a profound student of the Bible and Bible history to the extent that he was regarded as an authority on these subjects.
