General Notes: Husband - Abram Gardner
He received his education in the common schools, and began the active life of a farmer. In 1855 he went (from Pennsylvania?) to Columbiana County, Ohio, engaged in farming, and remained at this occupation until his death, which occurred when he was about fifty-nine years of age.
He attended public school, and moved with his parents to Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, where he married and lived until 1855, engaged in laboring and farming near Reedsville. After his family was grown he moved to Columbiana County, Ohio, and there purchased a farm of one hundred and thirty-three acres on which he lived until his death in his fifty-ninth year. During the Mexican war he offered his services as a volunteer, but was rejected. He was a strong Democrat, held several local offices, and was a devoted member of the Presbyterian church.
