General Notes: Husband - Andrew Rose, Sr.

In the month of September, 1798, his sons, James and Ephraim, came from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and settled on a 400-acre tract, in the west part of Pine township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. The farm was later owned by James Rose, Jr., and was one of the finest in the neighborhood, which abounded in fine farms and excellent improvements. In the spring of the following year, 1799, their father, Andrew Rose, came out, and brought with him his other four sons. He had been the manager of an iron-furnace in Bucks County for some time previous to his emigration to Mercer County. They put in their first grain in 1799, and Mr. Rose, that season, also built him a larger house, enlarged his stables, and made all necessary arrangements for entertaining travelers over night, although he did not keep a regular tavern. He was the first one of the family who died, after their removal to Mercer County. [HMC 1877, 60]

He settled in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, in 1794, on a tract of land known as the Rose estate, becoming an iron master. He helped to make cannon-balls for the Revolution and was one of the brave soldiers of that struggle. [BAFC, 501]
