General Notes: Husband - John Franklin Waite
His educational privileges were limited to one year's attendance at the common schools, as his parents were quite poor, and at an early day he started out to fight life's battle for himself. At the age of sixteen he began weaving carpets, coverlets, table cloths, etc., under John H. March, of Salona, Centre County, Pennsylvania, with whom he remained until 1849, when he removed to Kramerville, Brush Valley, where he then was employed at his trade or general labor. On state or national questions he votes with the Democratic party, but at local elections he was not bound by party ties. Beginning in 1849 he was a faithful member of the Evangelical Church, to which his wife also belonged.
He received a common school education in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, and became a carpet weaver at Rebersburg. He was a Democrat. For many years he served as school director, and he was constable for about ten years. In the Evangelical church he was for many years a deacon.
