He commenced married life on the farm of his father, and in 1881 moved to a home in Franklin township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he then engaged in farming and stock raising. Politically he was an ardent worker in the ranks of the Republican party, and in religion he and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian Church at Washington.
