General Notes: Husband - Prof. James M. Watson

He was a graduate of Westminster College, and also of the Edinboro State Normal School and Grove City College, where he pursued his studies until he had completed his education and fitted himself for his chosen profession of teaching. In 1890 he was elected superintendent of the Lawrence county schools, holding this position for six years. He exhibited marked qualifications for the office, and added during his term of office much to the efficiency of the schools throughout the county. He was popular not only among his fellow-educators and teachers but also among the general public.
In 1896 Prof. Watson bought one hundred acres of land near Fayetteville, where he has established his home, but did not enter largely into agricultural pursuits.

He enjoyed excellent educational advantages, attending Westminster College and the advanced schools of Grove City and Edinboro, Pennsylvania, graduating at the latter, in 1883, third member in a class of thirty-three. During the Civil War he served under Capt. J. R. Kemp for eleven months and eleven days, being mustered in and out at Pittsburgh.
He served as superintendent of the Lawrence County schools and later was one of Wilmington Township's excellent farmers, residing on a property of eighty-five acres of fine land, situated about two miles from New Wilmington, on the Mercer and Fay highway.
He was one of the leading members of the Presbyterian Church at New Wilmington, and was much interested in the Sabbath-school work.
