General Notes: Husband - James Fulton

He and his brother, John, grew up under distinctly trying circumstances and their educational advantages were meagre in the extreme. From very early ages they began to work on the farm which belonged to their mother, and gradually increased their share in the work thereof until they became capable of managing the whole place. They found the farm in a condition which required considerable clearing necessary, and together they started out to put it in a high state of cultivation. Besides this they also erected splendid modern farm buildings, barns, etc., and a good house. They engaged in a number of different kinds of farming, but made a specialty of the breeding of Jersey cattle, of which they kept a large herd. The milk of these animals they turned into butter, which they sold to special customers, and in that way carried on a large and highly remunerative dairying business.
They were directors in the county fair and large exhibitors therein. Neither
of the two brothers held public office of any kind. They were members of the United Presbyterian Church at Sewickley, and were active in advancing the cause of that church.
