General Notes: Husband - Samuel Alter


He was born in Allegheny township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. [CBRWC, 713] The same source makes different statements about him.

He was born near Logan's Ferry, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He learned the trade of blacksmith and removed, when a young man, to Allegheny township, Westmoreland County, where he pursued his trade for several years. He then purchased a farm of one hundred and sixty acres of land which he continued to cultivate until his death. He was a member, steward and trustee of the Methodist Episcopal church and an earnest and enthusiastic republican in politics. He served his township for several years as a member of its school board.
He and his wife reared a family of six sons and two daughters. [CBRWC, 714]

He was a farmer and blacksmith of Lower Burrell Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He and his wife had ten children. [PAH SW, 189]
