General Notes: Husband - Robert M. Fugate

near DuBois, Clearfield Co, PA

He was born in Laclede County, Missouri, but spent almost his entire life in Pennsylvania. He resided with his parents until 1882, during which time he attended school and worked on his father's farm. On leaving home he embarked in the lumber business, which he followed until the autumn of 1886, when he engaged in merchandising in Reynoldsville for a year. He then returned to the lumber business, and in addition operated a coal mine and stone quarry, and engaged in teaming until 1892. He purchased a farm of eighty acres in 1885, and his father lived on it until 1892, when our subject took possession, and successfully engaged in its cultivation. He was an expert mechanic, and though he served but one year's apprenticeship to the carpenter's trade, was very efficient in that line. He carried on carpentering and lumbering. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias fraternity of Reynoldsville. He gave his political support to the Republican party.
