General Notes: Husband - Hugh Phillips
He was educated in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. At the age of fifteen years he entered his brother Thomas' store at Glenfield, and in course of time became a partner. They conducted a general merchandise business, including feed, flour, drugs, coal, etc., also lumber and building material of all kinds, the style of the firm being Thomas Phillips & Bros.
He and his wife were members of the Presbyterian Church; politically he was a republican.
