General Notes: Husband - John Gamble

In early life he was a boatman on the canal between Johnstown and Pittsburgh. Later he engaged in farming, but about the close of the Civil War he abandoned agricultural pursuits. For sixteen years he was toll collector for the Butler & Pittsburgh Plank Road Company. Mr. Gamble was a Republican, and a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
