General Notes: Husband - John Swick

---

He was educated in the common schools of his day, and was brought up to engage in farming, an occupation he followed all his life, and which he pursued with such success that he was considered one of the successful men of his day. Until 1850 he rented his farm, when he purchased a farm in North Sewickley township, and there remained until the end of his life. He was a Whig in politics, and later joined the ranks of the Republican party; he held the offices of school director and supervisor. In religious faith he and his family adhered to the doctrines of the Church of God.
