General Notes: Husband - John Knauff

He was born in Germany and at the age of fourteen came with his parents to Butler County, Pennsylvania. He worked on the homestead farm until his first marriage, in 1845, when he settled on a farm owned by his father-in-law. He afterwards located on a 200-acre tract of land in Forward township, where his son, A. H., later resided. Mr. Knauff later retired from active business, and resided with his son on the homestead farm. Politically, a Democrat, he filled the office of school director and other minor positions in his township. He was a trustee and elder in the Lutheran church, at Zelienople.

He had six children with his second wife; three were still living in 1895.
