General Notes: Husband - Emanuel Z. Schrecengost
He was reared in Valley township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, where he received a common-school education. He learned the trade of blacksmith, which he then followed. On the 20th of March, 1855, he moved to Rural Valley, where he then engaged in the carriage manufacturing, blacksmithing and undertaking business. He prospered and owned a farm in Cowanshannock township, besides his property at Rural Valley. In August, 1864, he enlisted in Co. M, 5th regiment, Pa. Heavy Artillery, and served until the close of the war.
In politics Mr. Schrecengost is a stanch republican. He is a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
