He was a native of France, and emigrated from that country to the United States during the latter half of the eighteenth century. He followed farming in Westmoreland and Armstrong counties, Pennsylvania, for many years. He owned six hundred acres of land in Armstrong County, was a successful farmer, married and reared a family of several sons and daughters.
